Benteke returns to Crystal Palace training

Crystal Palace have been served a huge boost with news Christian Benteke is back in training following a six-week spell on the sidelines, reports the London Evening Standard.

Benteke has missed Palace’s last six matches after suffering knee ligament damage at the end of their 5-0 defeat away to Manchester City towards the end of September.

Palace have only scored in two of the subsequent five Premier League matches that have followed Benteke’s period on the sidelines and Roy Hodgson’s side are still six points adrift of safety.

However, Benteke’s return will at least give them a presence up front given they have been forced to play without a recognised striker over the last six weeks.

The Belgium international still lacks match fitness but will use the international break to get into shape ahead of the reception of fellow relegation strugglers Everton on November 18.

In the last three Premier League campaigns, Benteke is the only player that has won more than 500 aerial duels (501).
