Southampton on the verge of shattering club-transfer record

Southampton have agreed a club-record £21m deal with Lille for sought after winger Sofiane Boufal, according to Sky Sports.

Boufal, 22, has been sidelined with a knee injury since May and isn’t expected to be fit until after the international break at the start of September at the very least.

The Algeria international has also attracted interest from Watford this summer but Southampton are poised to win the race, surpassing their previous record of £15m for Dani Osvaldo from Roma in 2013.

In the last three Ligue 1 campaigns only Lucas Moura (192) has completed more dribbles than Boufal (175).
