Chelsea could turn attention to former Liverpool midfielder
Chelsea could make a move for Jordan Henderson this month as the Blues weigh up whether to sell Conor Gallagher, reports Football.London.
The west London side need to sell homegrown players in order to stay in line with Financial Fair Play regulations, with Gallagher one of those who could leave in January in order to balance the books.
Trevoh Chalobah and Ian Maatsen also face uncertain futures at Stamford Bridge with the pair, like Gallagher, linked with a move away.
And Chelsea could target Henderson in order to ease their central midfield issues should Gallagher, who is wanted by rivals Tottenham, depart.
The 33-year-old left Liverpool for Saudi Pro League side Al-Ettifaq last summer, in a move that was widely criticised following Henderson's pledge to support the LGBTQ community within football.
However, Henderson is believed to be keen on a return to England sooner rather than later having reportedly told former teammates that his move to Saudi Arabia was a huge mistake.
Chelsea need experience in midfield and Henderson would certainly bring that to Stamford Bridge all the while boosting his England chances ahead of Euro 2024.
