West Brom to continue spending with club record bid for Sakho

West Bromwich Albion are thought to be willing to smash their transfer record in a bid to bring Liverpool outcast Mamadou Sakho to the club, The Telegraph reports.

Tony Pulis has already pulled off a shock signing in Oliver Burke this week but the Baggies would need to fork out a fee twice that which they paid for the Scotsman, around £30m, to secure the services of Sakho.

The Baggies have already added Ahmed Hegazi to their defensive ranks this season, with the Egyptian making a strong first impression, while Craig Dawson extended his contract at the club this week.

Their interest in the Frenchman would seemingly be a reaction to the interest from elsewhere, namely Manchester City, in new captain Jonny Evans, who may well be allowed to leave if a deal for Sakho could be agreed.

The former PSG defender spent the second half of last season on loan at Crystal Palace, impressing to help steer the Eagles to safety prior to injury with 5 wins from his 8 league appearances.

The club have also been credited with a strong interest in Tottenham’s Kevin Wimmer, though it appears that their attentions have turned in the direction of the Liverpool man for now.
