Juventus wrap up Cuadrado deal

Juventus have confirmed the permanent signing of Juan Cuadrado from Premier League champions Chelsea for €20m to be paid over three years.

The Colombian joined the Old Lady in 2015 on loan and has spent the last two seasons in Turin, with Juventus on Monday exercising their option to sign the 28-year-old permanently.

“Juventus announces that, following the meeting of the conditions provided by the contract, its obligation to definitively acquire the registration rights of Juan Cuadrado from Chelsea became due,” a statement read on the club’s official website.

“The permanent transfer fee of €20 million is to be paid in three annual instalments starting from the 2017/2018 financial year.

“The 28-year-old forward has signed a contract that ties him to the Bianconeri until 30 June 2020.

“Pace, personality and perseverance. Cuadrado has shown all of these attributes, and more, ever since joining Juventus two summers ago.

“A seemingly endless source of energy, the Colombia international has built a reputation as a game-changer, his unique skillset bringing something completely different to the park that has often benefitted the Bianconeri over his 83 appearances with the club.

“Best known for his trickery and ability to dribble past his marker down the flank, Juan is also an extremely sharp shooter and has netted a number of wonder strikes, not least against Lyon in October and Inter in February – both winning goals in games of huge significance for Juve’s season in the Champions League and Serie A.

“Under Massimiliano Allegri’s guidance, Cuadrado has combined his innate flair and flamboyance with tactical discipline. Attentive at tracking back, but still spectacular going forwards, he has developed into one of the world’s best wide players and Juventus fans can look forward to watching him grace the black and white stripes for at least another three seasons.”
