Paris Saint Germain in pursuit of Premier League ace

Paris Saint-Germain have been in regular contact with the representatives of Everton midfielder Idrissa Gueye according to L’Equipe (in English via GetFrenchFootballNews).

The Ligue 1 champions are keen to bolster their midfield ranks with Adrien Rabiot set to sign for Barcelona and unlikely to feature for the club again in the meantime.

However, the pursestrings have been tightened owing to Financial Fair Play regulations, so PSG would need to convince Everton to sell their key midfielder for a fee in the region of €20m.

The 29-year-old extended his contract at Goodison Park earlier this year and his current deal isn’t due to expire until 2022, so doing so could prove to be a stumbling block.

The Senegal international has been a mainstay in the Toffees side since signing from Aston Villa in 2016 and has started 15 of 17 league matches under new manager Marco Silva to date.

In that time Gueye has averaged a massive 4.4 tackles per game, which is not only a Premier League high this season but enough to rank first across Europe’s top five leagues.
