Kevin De Bruyne closes in on new Manchester City deal

Manchester City star Kevin De Bruyne is on the verge of signing a new six-year deal worth £260,000-a-week, claims The Daily Mail.

De Bruyne’s current contract isn’t due to expire until 2021 but City want to reward the Belgium international with improved terms to reflect his importance to the team and fend off interest from Real Madrid.

Pep Guardiola’s side pulled out of a deal for Alexis Sanchez, who is now expected to join Manchester United, amid fears his financial package would destabilise the club and now they are poised to improve De Bruyne’s own deal.

City have already announced new deals for Fernandinho and Nicolas Otamendi this month, while talks are also on going for Gabriel Jesus, who is currently sidelined with injury.

De Bruyne became the first Premier League player to reach 10 assists for the campaign in Saturday’s 3-1 win over Newcastle; only Neymar has managed more (11) in Europe’s top five leagues.
