Belgium have been given a boost ahead of the Euros following news that Liverpool striker Divock Origi will not require ankle surgery, reports The Daily Mirror.
Origi, 21, was stretchered off in Liverpool’s 4-0 win over Everton last week following a reckless challenge from Ramiro Funes Mori and it had been feared the young striker would require surgery and miss all of the Euros in the summer.
However, further examination has revealed that the Belgium international has only ruptured one ligament in his ankle and will not require surgery, leaving him dreaming of returning to first-team action in the Europa League final if Liverpool make it.
The former Lille striker had just hit full stride under Jurgen Klopp and become a key player in the manager’s plans at Anfield. In fact, Origi had scored five goals in his last five matches before sustaining the injury.
