Premier League strugglers make move for France international

Aston Villa have made an offer in the region of £3m for Marseille goalkeeper Steve Mandanda, according to Get French Football News.

The struggling Premier League outfit have been linked with an array of goalkeepers in the last few months and have seemingly made Mandanda their number one target as they look to find a replacement for Brad Guzan.

Mandanda only has six months remaining on his current deal with Marseille and could be signed for a cut price in January, whereby he will have a relegation release clause should Villa fail to secure their Premier League status.

The 30-year-old has spent the last eight years at the Stade Velodrome and the Ligue 1 side will reportedly take their captains wishes into consideration before making their decision on the offer.

Since the 2009/10 campaign, only two goalkeepers have made more saves in Ligue 1 than Mandanda (552)
