Juventus ready to rival Tottenham for new defender

Tottenham now face competition from Juventus for Porto right-back Ricardo Pereira, reports the London Evening Standard.

Mauricio Pochettino’s side are on the verge of banking £55m for Kyle Walker and the Tottenham manager needs to use that money to sign a replacement before the start of the season.

Porto are already planning for Pereira’s departure and know they are powerless in keeping the Portugal international due to his £22m release clause.

Pereira thrived for Nice during his two-year loan deal at the French outfit and is now expected to be in the middle of a two-way fight between Tottenham and Juventus.

The Serie A giants are also in the market for a new right-back after reluctantly letting Dani Alves leave the club to join Paris Saint-Germain earlier this month.

In the last two Ligue 1 seasons only Djibril Sidibe (194) and Sebastien Corchia (179) have won more tackles than Pereira (171) of all defenders.
