Arsenal interested in Lyon midfielder

Lyon midfielder Bruno Guimaraes is on Arsenal's radar this summer, reports Goal.

Mikel Arteta is keen to bolster his midfield options despite the arrival of teenager Albert Sambi Lokonga.

Dani Ceballos and Martin Odegaard have both returned to Real Madrid, while Matteo Guendouzi has left on loan and talks are underway to sell Granit Xhaka.

Arsenal were heavily linked with a move for Sassuolo star Manuel Locatelli but the Euro 2020 winner is holding out to join Juventus.

It has now emerged Arsenal sporting director, Edu, has rekindled the club's interest in Guimaraes.

Arsenal made a late push to sign the Brazil international in 2020 but the midfielder decided to honour his agreement with Lyon.

The 23-year-old is now keen to leave the French side and they are also open to offers as they look to raise money after a tough 12 months financially.

Guimaraes made 33 league appearances for Lyon last season in his first full campaign with the club and finished with three goals and one assist.

Moreover, only Jason Denayer (94.6) had a better pass success rate than Guimaraes (90.5%) of Lyon players.
