Arsenal planning £25m raid for Barcelona star

With Mesut Ozil and Alexis Sanchez’s future at the club very much in doubt, Arsenal are already planning for the worst and are reportedly preparing an offer for Barcelona’s Arda Turn, The Times claim.

Arsene Wenger’s decision on his own future with The Gunners is yet to be announced, though most are now reporting that the Frenchman will renew his contract at the Emirates. It’s also being suggested that the club are readying themselves for an unprecedented summer of spending, with Turkish international Arda the latest name to be linked.

The 30-year old has three years remaining on his contract, though a fee of £25m still seems lofty for a fringe player that most would now consider to be past his peak. That said, the Londoners may well need attacking reinforcements in the summer and Arda has won league titles with both Barcelona and Atletico.

The versatile attacker has started just 14 matches across the league and Champions League for the blaugrana this season but has weighed in with 7 goals and 4 assists in said tournaments, proving reliable when called upon. He will be hoping to help Barca to the Champions League final having missed the 2014 final as they prepare for their own repeat of the 2015 showpiece with Juventus in this season's quarter-final. It of course would not be the first time that the two clubs have been involved in negotiations, with Arsenal having signed the likes of Cesc Fabregas, Alexis Sanchez and Hector Bellerin from the Catalans in recent years.

The latter is tipped to follow in the footsteps of Fabregas by returning to Camp Nou, fuelling speculation by telling Spanish radio station Cadena SER “Any player in the world would be very excited to know that Barca are interested, it is very nice to get recognised by Barcelona.”
