Liverpool crock set to return

Liverpool defender Jon Flanagan is set to return to full training as he looks to put his 18-month injury hell behind him, reports the Liverpool Echo.

Flanagan, 22, hasn’t featured competitively for the club since turning out in their 2-1 win over Newcastle on the final day of the 2013/14 campaign.

The England international has been recovering from a serious knee injury ever since that summer but has finally been given the go ahead to join up with Jurgen Klopp’s first-team.

The news comes as a huge boost for Klopp, who will now have more options at left-back for the second half of the season.

In the 2013/14 campaign, no Liverpool player made more tackles in the Premier League per game than Flanagan (3.4).
