City star does not fear Guardiola axe

Manchester City captain Vincent Kompany isn’t concerned about his future despite the arrival of Pep Guardiola in the summer.

Kompany, 30, has struggled with hamstring injuries all season and reports had emerged suggesting he was one of the City players that could be culled by Guardiola.

The Belgium international has been a mainstay in the City starting XI since joining from Hamburg in 2008 and his agent has revealed Kompany doesn’t envisage his City career coming to a close any time soon.

“Vincent is stronger than ever. We are in touch on a daily basis and he’s absolutely not worried about his future, his agent, Jacques Lichtenstein, is quoted as saying by The Daily Mail.

“That’s his strength. He still has a contract for three seasons, he’s the captain of one of the biggest clubs in the world and he’s convinced his best years are ahead of him.”
