Max Allegri and Juventus came to an agreement that would allow the Italian to walk away from the club at the end of the season, according to Calciomercato, via Football Italia.
The 49-year-old’s current deal is not due to expire until the end of next season after agreeing a 12-month extension at the end of last season but no Juventus head coach has done more than three years in charge since Marcello Lippi’s first stint at the club which spanned between 1994 and 1999.
Allegri has recently emerged as a candidate to replace Arsene Wenger at Arsenal this summer should the Frenchman walk away from football when his contract expires at the end of the season and Allegri’s availability would make him significantly cheaper than some of Arsenal’s other targets.
Fiorentina manager Paulo Sousa has been touted as a possible candidate to succeed Allegri, while there are also suggestions Roma boss Luciano Spalletti could also take over the reigns as his current deal also ends this summer.
Allegri has led Juventus to two straight Serie A titles during his time at the club and is on course to make it three Scudettos in a row this season. He has a phenomenal win ratio of 70.2% since becoming manager of the Old Lady.
