Chelsea turn down approaches from European giants for outcast defender

Chelsea have turned down approaches from Juventus, Borussia Dortmund and Bayern Munich for outcast defender Andreas Christensen, claims the London Evening Standard.

Christensen has endured a frustrating season after dropping out of favour under Maurizio Sarri this season and has been heavily linked with a January move away.

The Denmark international is regarded as one of the most promising young centre-backs in Europe and Chelsea have no interest selling him despite his woes this season.

Juventus, Dortmund and Bayern have reportedly all enquired about Christensen’s availability this month and all three have been told to look elsewhere.

The 22-year-old emerged as a key player under former Chelsea manager Antonio Conte but has only made one appearance in the Premier League this season.

Chelsea have already shown with the future of Callum Hudson-Odoi that they will not bend to player power in regards to their careers but they will have to brace themselves for renewed interest in Christensen in the summer if his situation does not change.

Christensen started all six of Chelsea’s Europa League group matches this season. Moreover, only Cesc Fabregas (552) has attempted more passes than Christensen (479) in the competition.
