Chelsea would need ‘extraordinary offer’ to sign former Premier League goal machine
Fenerbahce have told Chelsea they will need to make an ‘extraordinary offer’ to sign Robin van Persie, reports Sky Sports.
Van Persie, 32, joined the Turkish giants from Manchester United at the start of the season but it has been widely reported the Netherlands international is unhappy at the club.
Chelsea are already closing in on Alexandre Pato to revamp their offensive options and would already appear to have their eye on another striker before the January transfer window shuts at the start of next week.
However, Guus Hiddink’s side may be forced to sound out alternative options after being told it would take a sizeable sum to prize Van Perise away from Fenerbahce this month.
Van Persie has only started 10 league games this season and has made a further eight appearances from the substitutes’ bench. However, despite being out of favour he has still chipped in with seven league goals.
During his final six years in the Premier League, no player scored more goals in the Premier League (105).
