Manchester United defender to extend Old Trafford stay

Manchester United will trigger their option in Ashley Young’s contract to a further 12 months, reports The Daily Mirror.

The 32-year-old’s current £130,000-a-week contract is due to expire at the end of the season but he has emerged as a key player for Jose Mourinho this season.

Young has established himself as United’s first choice left-back and now has an outside chance of making the 2018 World Cup.

Gareth Southgate handed Young his first appearance for England in more than four years during the most recent international break and now he is set to extend his stay at Old Trafford by a further year.
