Lyon have announced Jason Denayer’s arrival from Manchester City on a four-year deal until 2022.
Denayer spent the last five years at City after joining the Premier League champions in 2013 but failed to make any impact at the club.
The 23-year-old has endured four separate loan spells at three clubs during that time and never made a single senior appearance for City.
Denayer had two years remaining on his City contract but Pep Guardiola’s side have confirmed his departure to Lyon.
“It gives me great pleasure to come and play in Lyon,” Denayer told the club’s official website.
“The club followed me for three seasons. This shows that they really wanted me and they know my game perfectly. It’s an honour to play here.”
The Belgium international spent last season on loan at Galatasaray for a second spell at the Turkish giants.
Denayer started 17 league matches and made a further five appearances from the bench.
Galatasaray had a significantly higher loss ratio with Denayer in the starting XI last term (29.4%) compared to when he did not feature from the off in the league (11.8%).
