Napoli will need to meet Torino’s £18.75m valuation of Nikola Maksimovic in order to land the defender this month, according to Gazzetta dello Sport.
Maurizio Sarri has reportedly identified Maksimovic as one of his top transfer targets this month and has already seen an initial £16.5m bid rejected by Torino.
Maksimovic, 24, made his first appearance since September in Torino’s 1-0 defeat at home to Empoli on Sunday after being sidelined for more than three months with a serious foot injury.
The Serbia international has been one of Torino’s best performers in recent seasons and it’s not surprising they have struggled in his absence this season.
In fact, last season Maksimovic made at least 19 more interceptions than any other Torino player in Serie A (93).
