Manchester United youngster returns to the Championship on loan

Aston Villa have confirmed the return of Manchester United defender Axel Tuanzebe on a season-long loan deal via their official website.

The 20-year-old spent the second half of last season at Villa Park but suffered a number of injuries that restricted him to just five appearances, each of which came at full-back.

The youngster has reiterated the fact that he sees centre-back as his natural position, however, and should see more minutes in that role following the departure of former captain John Terry.

Steve Bruce has experimented with a back three at times in pre-season but is expected to revert to a four, with Tommy Elphick and midfielder Mile Jedinak set to compete alongside new skipper James Chester in Monday night’s game against Hull.

Tuanzebe has not travelled with the Villa squad for the trip to the KCom Stadium but will hope to come into contention for the club’s first home game of the season against Wigan next Saturday.
