Leicester interested in Crystal Palace winger

Leicester are hopeful of prising Andros Townsend away from Crystal Palace in January as the Eagles look to fund a move for a new striker, reports The Daily Mirror.

The Foxes failed in their attempts to sign Townsend at the end of the summer after being told by Palace it would take an extraordinary offer to convince them so late in the window.

However, Leicester are ready to rekindle their interest in the 26-year-old with Palace desperate to sign a goalscoring striker to bolster their chances of survival.

Palace have lost all seven of their Premier League matches without scoring and are currently without a recognised striker with Christian Benteke and Connor Wickham recovering from long-term injuries.

Townsend is renowned for cutting inside from the wing and shooting from distance, although the numbers would suggest he should stop doing that. Since the start of last season, he has only managed to score one league goal from 49 attempts from outside of the box.
