Everton sign Watford midfielder Doucoure in £20m deal

Everton have confirmed the arrival of Watford midfielder Abdoulaye Doucoure in a deal worth in the region of £20m.

Carlo Ancelotti's side made a breakthrough in talks with Watford on Wednesday after having previous bids knocked back by the Championship outfit.

Doucoure has put pen to paper on a three-year deal with the Toffees and completes the club's stunning midfield overhaul this summer.

Everton's midfield was considered their major weakpoint at the end of last season but Ancelotti has now addressed that in a near-£70m spending spree.

Ancelotti has secured reunions with Napoli midfielder Allan and Real Madrid outcast James Rodriguez in addition to Doucoure's arrival from everton.

Doucoure ranked fifth in the Premier League for most possession won in the attacking third last season (29) and finished the 2019/20 campaign with six goal involvements.

"I have been waiting a long time to come here and now it has happened so I am very happy," Doucoure said on the move.

"I had some interest from other clubs but from the beginning when Everton showed an interest in me I told my agent to focus on Everton. It was the only club I wanted to join.

"Everton has a big history in English football and it is a good club for me to have a step up in my career. I am very happy now to be an Everton player and very excited for the future."
