Emery keen on reunion with midfielder at Arsenal

Recently appointed Arsenal head coach Unai Emery is keen on a reunion with midfielder Steven N’Zonzi, reports the Sunday Mirror.

The France international has previously been linked with a move to the Emirates, but while a free switch to north London was once on the cards, N’Zonzi is now tied down to Sevilla until 2020.

However, Emery is keen to make N’Zonzi one of his first summer signings following his appointment as Arsene Wenger’s successor at the Emirates.

The Spaniard is now hoping to convince the Arsenal board to push ahead with a move for the 29-year-old, who excelled under Emery during their time together in Seville.

Head of recruitment Sven Mislintat previously vetoed a deal for N’Zonzi, but after discussing the move with Emery, is now prepared to sanction the transfer.

Sevilla spent £8m to sign N’Zonzi from Stoke back in 2015 and has eyed the French midfielder as the ideal midfield reinforcement this summer.

Abdoulaye Doucoure has also been earmarked as a potential arrival at Arsenal, but Emery favours a move for N’Zonzi.
