Kai Havertz will inform Bayer Leverkusen he wants to leave this summer to hand a major boost to Chelsea's pursuit of the sought after forward, claims The Daily Telegraph.
Chelsea made Havertz their top transfer target for the summer since wrapping up a deal for RB Leipzig striker Timo Werner last month.
Havertz has emerged as one of the most sought after talents in Europe this year after exploding into form during the second half of the season.
Bayern Munich have already ruled themselves out of the running for the 21-year-old this summer and had hoped Havertz would delay his decision to leave Leverkusen by 12 months.
However, the fact Havertz is intent on leaving Leverkusen now only increases Chelsea's chances of signing the versatile forward more.
Manchester United are interested in the Leverkusen starlet but aren't likely to make a decision on him until later in the summer.
Havertz finished the 2019/20 campaign with 12 goals and six assists in 30 league appearances but he really excelled in 2020, with a direct hand in 15 goals in 16 outings.
