The agent of Nabil Fekir has confirmed Liverpool are interested in signing his client but warned other teams could also enter the race for the Lyon captain.
Fekir has emerged as Liverpool’s top transfer target this summer after being identified the perfect replacement for Philippe Coutinho.
Liverpool sold Coutinho to Barcelona in January but delayed their decision to sign a replacement until this summer.
Jurgen Klopp’s side are reportedly willing to pay a premium to wrap up a deal for Fekir before the 2018 World Cup, but they are yet to make progress with Lyon.
Bayern Munich have also been linked with a summer move for Fekir and his agent, Jean-Pierre Bernes, has warned Liverpool are not the only side that will be in play for his client's signature.
“Talks with Liverpool will only happen when there is an agreement with Lyon and Jean-Michel Aulas gives the green light,” Bernes told French outlet Le Progres.
“Liverpool’s interest exists, but for now nothing is done. The transfer window is long. Other clubs could show interest.”
Fekir has just enjoyed his best campaign to date and could develop into a key player for France at the World Cup now that Dimitri Payet is ruled out for Didier Deschamps’ side.
The 24-year-old scored 18 goals and provided eight assists in 30 league games for Lyon last season, garnering a WhoScored rating of 7.86. Furthermore, no Ligue 1 player was fouled more times than Fekir last season (105).
