Arsenal back in for talented midfielder

Arsenal have re-entered the race to sign Nice sensation Jean Micheal Seri, reports Ed Aarons of the Guardian.

The Ivory Coast international has been strongly linked with a move to Serie A side Roma, and it was believed the Italian giants had won the race to secure the services of the 25-year-old.

However, Roma, who are closing in on the signing of Maxime Gonalons, are reportedly unwilling to pay the player’s €40m release clause, which has seen Arsenal re-emerge as a contender for Seri’s signature when it looked as though they had missed out on one of their top targets.

Interest in the midfielder is high this summer on the back of a stunning Ligue 1 season, where Seri made more accurate passes (2542) than any other player in France’s top tier, while the Nice ace placed second for clear-cut goalscoring chances created (16).

Tottenham and Barcelona have both been credited with an interest in Seri, though Arsenal are hoping to trump the duo and Roma to the signing of the Nice star this summer.
