SERIE A PREVIEW: Juve eye 19 games unbeaten

In contrast to the Bundesliga, the biggest game in Serie A this weekend kicks things off in gameweek 29. League leaders Juventus host Sassuolo, who are enjoying a fantastic season to find themselves in with an outside chance of a European finish. The champions are unbeaten in 18, dropping just two points in that time, with their last defeat coming against tonight’s opponents.

Eusebio Di Francesco’s side have only conceded more goals on the road this season than the top two (17), and with Juve scoring just twice in their last three league meetings against Sassuolo, Napoli will hope this proves to be another tough match for the Old Lady.

Maurizio Sarri’s men will have to wait until Sunday night to make up any ground on the leaders, but will be confident of doing just that against a Palermo side in freefall. Walter Novellino has become the Rosanero’s eighth managerial appointment of the season (8!) following a run of seven games without a win and dependent on another big game at the bottom, they could be in the bottom three come next week.

Promoted Carpi and Frosinone do battle on Sunday afternoon and while both are in the relegation zone as things stand, many felt they would be doomed by now. That is not the case though, with Frosinone in particular showing real signs of improvement. A fourth win in seven for the visitors could leave Carpi with too much to do in the battle against the drop.

Elsewhere Saturday’s night’s game between Inter and Bologna will be a test of the former’s credentials in their bid to return to the Champions League. Roberto Donadoni has worked wonders with the Rossoblu since his appointment late last year to guide the team to ninth having kept four consecutive clean sheets.
