Conte eyes Terry replacement at Chelsea

Antonio Conte will turn to Juventus defender Leonardo Bonucci as John Terry’s replacement if he is made Chelsea manager, according to Tuttomercatoweb, via Football Italia.

The Italy head coach is expected to be confirmed as Guus Hiddink’s replacement as Chelsea manager in the coming weeks after meeting with Blues owner Roman Abramovich earlier this week.

Chelsea are expected to be one of the busiest teams in the summer with wholesale changes anticipated following their disastrous campaign that has them battling in midtable.

With Terry’s contract set to expire at the end of the season and no more talks scheduled to extend his stay, at least one new central defender is expected through the doors at Chelsea in the summer, with Conte looking to reunite with Juventus defender Bonucci.

The 28-year-old is expected to be named in Conte’s Italy squad for the Euros in the summer and if one manager could prize him away from Juventus, Conte would be high on the list of managers able to do so.

Bonucci has been an ever-present in the Juventus team almost as since as he arrived, and this season has proved no different. In fact, no Juventus outfielder has featured in more minutes than Bonucci (2,347).
