Manchester City star ruled out for six weeks

Manchester City striker Sergio Aguero will be sidelined for six weeks with a broken rib, according to the Argentinean national team doctor.

Pep Guardiola’s side were hopeful that Aguero would only be sidelined for up to a month after he was involved in a car crash in Amsterdam last Thursday.

Aguero has been in blistering form for City this season and is now only two goals away from becoming the club’s all-time leading goalscorer, but his national team doctor, Donato Villani, believes he will be out of action for much longer.

“He’s feeling very bad emotionally because he really wanted to come and play [for Argentina], but this incident has ruled him out of both games,” he told TyC Sports, via Sky Sports.

“He is going to be out for a month-and-a-half minimum. He is unable to leave his house, or get in or out of the car. He was feeling very bad because he wanted to be here.”

A six-week layoff would rule Aguero out of City’s next seven matches, including two Champions League gamges against Napoli and the reception of title rivals Arsenal in the league.

No Premier League player has played a direct hand in more league goals than Aguero this season (9).
