Manchester United prepare five-year deal for Mourinho

Manchester United are ready to hand Jose Mourinho a new five-year deal as they look to bring stability back to Old Trafford, according to Sunday World.

Mourinho only became United manager in May and they are a staggering 12 points adrift of league leaders Chelsea but this season has been hugely encouraging for the Red Devils as Mourinho looks to restore former glories.

United are currently unbeaten in 16 league games and would arguably be challenging Chelsea for the league title had their finishing not been so poor at key times this season. Despite the fact they are still in sixth, United are still competitive in all four competitions this season and have a real chance of landing a cup treble.

As a result, United are ready to hand Mourinho, whose exiting contract expires in 2019, with a new deal that will keep him at the club until 2022. Given Mourinho has historically had melt downs at all of his previous jobs in and around the third-year, it would be a huge show of faith in Mourinho from the United board.

United’s run of 16 league games unbeaten is the longest run put together by a Premier League side all season.
