Tottenham confident crucial asset will sign on at the club

Tottenham are confident that key man Dele Alli will sign a new contract at the club, despite interest from Real Madrid and going through the process of changing agents, reports the Daily Telegraph.

Spurs are hoping to the tie the England international down to another new deal that will reward him with a significant pay rise.

Alli, 21, penned a new six-year deal last September, but the north London side are looking to bring him in line with the club’s top earners, bumping him from £50,000 to £80,000 a week and add another year to his contract.

Alli has come under staunch criticism this season after he landed in hot water following a middle finger gesture against Slovakia that saw him miss Thursday’s 1-0 win over Slovenia.

Meanwhile, his form his dipped slightly after a stunning end to the 2016/17 season that saw him named in the PFA Young Player of the Year back in April.

However, Spurs are looking to secure an agreement with the player before Alli can sign on with a new agent and ahead of next summer’s World Cup, where a strong showing in Russia would see interest in the youngster rise significantly.
