Huddersfield are in talks with Chelsea about re-signing Izzy Brown in a deal worth £8m, reports The Daily Telegraph.
The newly promoted Premier League side are keen to back manager David Wagner in the transfer window as they look to consolidate their place in England’s top tier next season.
Huddersfield are due to announce a club-record transfer for Aaron Mooy when the Manchester City midfielder returns from Confederations Cup duty with Australia after agreeing a £10m deal.
The Terriers are also looking to sign Derby forward Tom Ince and have already had a £7.2m bid for the 25-year-old rejected, while Wagner’s side are now looking to bring Brown back to the club for next season on a permanent basis.
Brown, 20, spent the second half of last season on loan at Huddersfield and played a pivotal role in their promotion to the Premier League through the play-offs.
Only Mooy (2.1) averaged more key passes per game for Huddersfield in the Championship last season than Brown (1.2), while the England U20 international also ranked third for dribbles per game of all Huddersfield players (1.9).
