Newcastle forward signs new long-term deal

Newcastle United have announced Ayoze Perez has signed a new five-and-a-half year deal keeping him at the club until 2021.

Perez, 22, has been at the club since making the £1.5m switch from his hometown team Tenerife in 2014 and has quickly risen through the ranks to become a regular first-team squad member.

The versatile Spanish forward has previously been linked with a move to Manchester United and Spurs, but has instead committed his long-term future to Newcastle.

“It’s a special day for me, a big day for me,” Perez told Newcastle’s official website.

“The truth is I’m really happy here, so it’s a good thing for me – and I hope it’s the same for the Geordie family.

“Newcastle gave me everything and I’m really pleased to sign this new contract.”

Perez has already played a direct hand in as many goals this season (7) in just 21 games than he managed in all the 36 games combined for Newcastle last season in the Premier League.
