Aston Villa are weighing up a move to bring Steven N'Zonzi back to the Premier League this month, reports The Daily Mirror.
The relegation strugglers have been alerted to N'Zonzi's potential availability following a falling out between the player and current club Galatasaray.
N'Zonzi is on loan from Serie A outfit Roma but has been suspended by the Turkish outfit following a training ground bust-up.
The 31-year-old is reportedly even open to returning to the Premier League five years since he left Stoke to join Sevilla.
Villa manager Dean Smith is desperate to get new faces through the door this window in a bid to beat the drop.
The newly promoted outfit are currently in the bottom three following their 6-1 defeat to Manchester City on Sunday.
Villa have already signed Danny Drinkwater on loan from Chelsea and the former Premier League winner endured a debut to forget for the club.
Drinkwater was directly at fault for one of City's goals and finished the heavy defeat with a WhoScored rating of 4.95.
Villa announced former Liverpool goalkeeper Pepe Reina on loan from AC Milan on Monday evening and should really now be looking to sign a replacement for Wesley up front.
Instead, however, Villa are pondering a move to further bolster their midfield with N'Zonzi's arrival.
N'Zonzi has been limited to just 10 league appearances this season and has one assist and no goals in that time.
The former France international does, however, rank in the top 10 for best pass success rate in the division (90.1%).
