Manchester United target signs new deal

Inter have announced Ivan Perisic has signed a new five-year deal keeping him at the club until June 2022.

Perisic was heavily linked with a move to Manchester United all summer but the Serie A giants were successful in fending off interest from Jose Mourinho’s side.

The Croatia international’s previous deal wasn’t due to expire until 2020, but Inter have moved to reward the 28-year-old with a further two years and a significant wage hike.

“It’s a special day, certainly there’s a bit of emotion and I’m also happy after the stress of this summer,” he told Inter’s official channel, via Football Italia.

“Now we’re looking ahead and I’m only thinking about Inter. After signing on, we can only think about the pitch.

“I didn’t say anything for a while. Now I can say that with Mr. Spalletti, we talked about preparation and he told me that with him, I could get even better.”

Perisic has spent the last two years at Inter after joining from Bundesliga side Wolfsburg in 2015 and he has been in immense form since the turn of the year. In fact, no Serie A player has registered more assists in 2017 than Perisic (10).
