Manchester City rule out sale of club legend

Manchester City chairman Khaldoon al-Mubarak has declared Sergio Aguero as an indispensable part of the team and ruled out his departure this summer.

Aguero, who is arguably the best player to have ever donned a City shirt, has been heavily linked with a move away from the club since Gabriel Jesus arrived in January.

The Argentina international is no longer the first name on the team sheet and it's debatable whether there will even be a starting spot in the team when everyone is fit and available to manager Pep Guardiola next season.

City are preparing themselves for one of the most expensive summers in football history as Guardiola expects to spend in the region of £300m on new players but Aguero is not going to be one of the current squad members that will be allowed to leave.

“Absolutely,” the City chairman told the club’s official website when asked whether Aguero would stay. “There’s never been a doubt about that. I’ve read a lot of the speculation on this and it’s ridiculous.

“Sergio Aguero is one of the best players in the world. We are a team that aspires to win every competition we compete in. Having Sergio Aguero as part of the squad is an absolute must. It has never been in doubt.”

The 28-year-old finished the campaign having scored 20+ Premier League goals for the third campaign in a row. In fact, Aguero has the best minutes per goal ratio (1 every 110 minutes) of any Premier League player in the history of the competition from those that have scored at least 15 goals.
