Mourinho lavishes praise on ‘happy’ Manchester United forward
Jose Mourinho has revealed his delight at Anthony Martial’s superb start to the season after praising his improved attitude.
Martial was often criticised by Mourinho last season and it appeared the France international would be sold this summer as the club chased Ivan Perisic’s signature.
The 21-year-old hasn’t managed to nail down a regular starting berth this season but Mourinho is impressed with the attitude Martial has shown when given the chance to play.
“I see a great improvement in the person, his mood, body language, his happiness. He’s a happy guy, who’s working well,” Sky Sports quote Mourinho as saying.
“In the last match at home he tries to enjoy it and I’m very pleased with his attitude overall.”
Martial and Marcus Rashford have rotated on the left hand side of United’s attack, but it’s the Frenchman that has flourished towards the end of games.
The United No.11 has scored three goals and one assist despite only starting in one of United’s opening five matches. In fact, Martial has the best minutes-per-goal ratio in the Premier League this season (1+ goal).
