Senior officials at Real Madrid are growing frustrated by Gareth Bale’s failure to stay fit, according to AS.
Bale, 26, has only started 14 league games this season and members of the Madrid board are reportedly worried the world’s most expensive player is turning into Arjen Robben, who endured an injury-plagued career at the Bernebau.
According to AS, Bale has sustained 11 different injuries since making the move from Spurs to Madrid in 2013 and he has cost Los Blancos €750,000 (£586,470) per game.
Statistics also reveal that Madrid have not struggled in Bale’s absence, who is currently sidelined through injury and likely to miss the Madrid derby with Atletico on Saturday.
In fact, since August 2013, Madrid have only lost two league games from the 33 Bale has missed from the start.
Alternatively, however, only Zlatan Ibrahimovic (52.5 mins) has required fewer minutes per goal and assist than Bale (55.4 mins) across Europe’s top five leagues this season.
