Manchester United have denied they met with Bayern Munich boss Pep Guardiola in Paris to discuss the Spaniard becoming Louis van Gaal’s replacement at the end of the season, reports BBC Sport.
Louis van Gaal’s future continues to remain uncertain and there have been suggestions he could stand down at the end of the season, despite having another year left on the three-year deal he signed after the 2014 World Cup.
Noises out of Old Trafford has refutably dismissed reports they are interested in entering a tuck of war with rivals with Manchester City for the former Barcelona manager, who is leaving Bayern at the end of the season with the Premier League his next destination.
However, there is also a chance United don’t want to publically admit they are interested in Guardiola with Van Gaal still in charge. Not only that, but it would be another unwanted embarrassment for Ed Woodward if City were to win the race to land the most sought after manager on the planet.
United are currently seven points adrift of league leaders Arsenal in fifth place but have been in a terrible run of form over the last three months. In fact, the Red Devils have only won three of their last 10 league games, scoring just 11 goals in that time.
