Chelsea striker set for massive wage hike before Swansea loan
Chelsea will hand Tammy Abraham a new long-term deal worth £50,000-a-week before he joins Premier League rivals Swansea on a season-long loan deal, reports The Daily Telegraph.
Abraham is set to finalise a loan move to Swansea in the coming days after returning from England’s U21 European Championship campaign following penalty shootout heartbreak to Germany in the semi-finals.
The 19-year-old flourished for Bristol City in the Championship last season and will continue to develop away from Chelsea next season, but Antonio Conte’s side will reward the youngster, who missed one of the penalties against Germany, with a new long-term deal beforehand.
Newcastle were favourites to sign Abraham on a season-long loan deal but have been beaten to his signature by Swansea, who are managed by former Chelsea coach Paul Clement.
While Conte is keen to bring Romelu Lukaku back to Stamford Bridge this summer, Chelsea are adamant that Abraham will be integrated into the first-team squad in the coming years and have no intention of selling him.
Only Chris Wood (27) scored more goals in the Championship last season than Abraham (23), who scored all of those goals from inside the penalty box.
