United weigh up Pato move

Manchester United are considering a move for Alexandre Pato to help ease the goalscoring burden on captain Wayne Rooney, according to The Daily Telegraph.

Pato, 25, has been offered to United and Chelsea for a fee believed to be in the region of £11m. Despite insisting the club do not need another more strikers, Louis van Gaal is reportedly keeping one eye on possible targets as Rooney continues to toil in front of goal.

The Brazilian striker was tipped for great things when he burst onto the scene at AC Milan as a 17-year-old, but has seen the resulting years hampered by injury and has since returned to Brazil in order to kick-start his career.

Pato has spent the last 16 months at Sao Paulo, on loan from Corinthians, and the latter are looking to offload the striker before his contract expires in December.

The Brazil international seems to have recaptured the magic that courted so much attention during his years at Milan. In fact only Ricardo Oliveira (11) has scored more goals than Pato (8) in the league this season.
