Bayern Munich emerge as shock contenders for Manchester United target

Manchester United face competition from Bundesliga giants Bayern Munich in the race to sign Borussia Dortmund attacker Jadon Sancho, reports ESPN.

United are keen on bringing Sancho back to England and are readying a big money move for the 20-year-old this summer.

Dortmund are reluctant to lose Sancho, who registered his 16th league assist of the season in their 2-0 win at Wolfsburg.

However, they stand to bring in upwards of £100m should they elect to sell Sancho, who is contracted to the title contenders until 2022 and there is believed to be a agreement in place that will allow him to leave should they receive an offer in line with their €120m valuation of the winger.

And while Dortmund would rather sell abroad than strengthen a Bundesliga rival, Bayern are now weighing up a move for Sancho this summer.

The German champions have previous with raiding Dortmund for their star players, having acquired Robert Lewandowski, Mario Gotze and Mats Hummels from their fierce rivals in the past.

Bayern are in the market for a winger and remain hopeful they can strike a deal with Manchester City to secure the services of Leroy Sane, but they are keeping their options open with Sancho among those being courted by the Bavarian giants.
