Sam Allardyce has sensationally told Crystal Palace that he wants to quit as manager after guiding them to Premier League safety, reports the Daily Mail.
Allardyce succeeded Alan Pardew as Eagles boss in December and after a rocky start, guaranteed their top-flight status on the penultimate weekend of the campaign.
The former England boss wanted assurances over his future from Crystal Palace chairman Steve Parish before committing his future to the club.
However, following a meeting with Parish on Tuesday, Allardyce has announced his desire to leave the south London side.
Palace are yet to comment on the matter, with the club’s board keen to pursue further talks with Allardyce over his reported decision to call time on his career at the club.
The 62-year-old is not expected to make a U-turn on his choice, with Allardyce thought to not be happy about the club’s transfer policy, according to the Daily Mail.
Allardyce oversaw seven wins in the final 13 games of the season to ensure Palace avoided dropping back into the Championship.
