Wolves are on the verge of signing Euro 2016 winner Joao Moutinho from French side Monaco in a deal worth £5m, reports The Express and Star.
Despite still having two years left to run on his existing Monaco deal, Wolves are poised to land the 31-year-old on the cheap.
Moutinho’s agent, Jorge Mendes, has put the deal together and will only strengthen Wolves’ Portuguese core at the club.
The newly promoted Premier League side have already signed Portugal’s first choice goalkeeper Rui Patricio this summer and are now poised to bolster their midfield options.
Wolves already have five Portuguese players in their ranks, including Patricio, and Moutinho’s arrival would be a further signal of intent from the midlands club.
Moutinho started two games for Portugal at the 2018 World Cup, providing one assist in that time. The veteran midfielder managed 33 league appearances for Monaco last term, with only two teammates supplying more assists (Moutinho – 6).
Nuno’s side are reportedly also closing in on a deal for Middlesbrough forward Adama Traore, who has an £18m release clause. The Spaniard was a revelation in the Championship last season, completing more dribbles than the second and third most prolific players combined.
