Sevilla announced on Friday evening their decision to sack manager Eduardo Berizzo after just six months in charge.
The Spanish side named Berizzo as their new long-term manager at the start of June after Jorge Sampaoli’s decided to return to international management at the end of last season.
Berizzo has been battling cancer this season and only last week returned to the dugout following a successful prostate operation in November.
However, Sevilla have decided to sack Berizzo after four games without a win, which includes a thumping 5-0 defeat to Real Madrid.
Sevilla are currently fifth in La Liga and 15 points behind league leaders Barcelona, but they are one of only three teams that have yet to lose on home soil.
