Manchester United could make a shock move for former Chelsea left-back Ashley Cole in January, according The Sun on Sunday.
Louis van Gaal is reportedly looking to add cover for Luke Shaw at left-back and Cole has emerged as a surprise target for the Red Devils.
Cole, 34, has been left out of Roma’s league and European squads this season and is set to leave the Serie A side when the transfer window opens in January.
The former Chelsea left-back picked up more than 100 caps for England during his 13-year international career and his experience would come cheaply on a six-month deal.
Cole only started 11 games for Roma last season, but only four players to have made more than five appearances finished with a higher pass success rate for the club than Cole (90%).
