Everton to make swoop for top La Liga midfielder

Sam Allardyce is preparing a bold move to take Steven N’Zonzi to Goodison Park, according to the Daily Mail.

The report suggests that Everton are prepared to offer £25m to ensure that the Frenchman returns to the Premier League following stints at Blackburn and Stoke.

Since moving from the latter to Sevilla the 28-year-old has been labelled as one of the very top midfielders in Spain’s top-flight, attracting interest from a number of high-profile suitors in the process.

N’Zonzi’s consistent form since signing for the La Liga outfit saw him earn a first France call-up earlier this season and he will have his sights on a spot in Didier Deschamps’ World Cup squad next summer.

If Everton have their way he may be on Merseyside by then, as they are thought to be preparing a bid in January to jump to the front of the queue for the middle man’s signature.

While he hasn’t been in the best of form for Sevilla this season, recently losing his place under new manager Eduardo Berizzo, N’Zonzi ranks among the top passers in Spain, with 71.3 per game enough to place fifth, boasting a strong 90.5% accuracy.
