Brentford part ways with Dijkhuizen

Brentford have announced they have parted ways with head coach Marinus Dijkhuizen and his assistant Roy Hendriksen following their poor start to the season than has seen them win just two of their opening eight matches.

The Bees only appointment Dijkhuizen at the start of the summer following Mark Warburton’s dismissal and have now promoted former Everton midfielder Lee Carsley as head coach until the end of the season.

Carsley had been working with Brentford’s development squad since October 2014 and has been rewarded the job of overseeing the first-team after impressing the board.

The 41-year-old will now be tasked with steering Brentford away from the relegation zone. Brentford have only won one of their last six league games and are now only just one point above the bottom three.
