Real Madrid cast eye on Serie A star

Real Madrid are interested in signing Torino striker Andrea Belotti and are set for talks with the Serie A club over a summer deal, reports Gazzetta dello Sport, via Football Italia.

Belotti, 23, only signed a new contract with Torino at the start of December and his new four-year deal contains a €100m (£85m) release clause that the Serie A side will look to hold out for in the future.

However, the staggering valuation has not put Madrid off of the Italy international and initial talks are set to happen even though Zinedine Zidane’s side are set to hand current lead striker Karim Benzema a new 12-month extension at the end of the season.

Madrid president Florentino Perez reportedly has an excellent relationship with Torino chief Urbano Cairo and the reigning European champions will hope that works in their favour of haggling a cheaper price for the in-form Serie A striker.

Only Edin Dzeko (17), Dries Mertens and Gonzalo Higuain (both 16) have scored more goals in Serie A this season than Belotti (15), who has already scored more goals this season than in any other campaign in his career.
